What is a QR Code you ask? A QR Code or a Quick Response Code is a two-dimensional code similar to a bar code, however instead of line density it uses black and white blocks to encode its data. QR codes are only readable by QR barcode readers which are commonly found on most smart phones in use today.
QR codes were originally designed for tracking parts in vehicle manufacturing but they have found their use by encoding website URLs. With the ability to encode a URL into a QR Code you can use it in print marketing campaigns where in place of users typing in a URL into their smart phone, they can simply snap a picture of the QR Code and the application that decodes the QR Code will show you what URL is hidden amongst all those black and white squares.
So how can you use the growing QR movement to hit the public? It’s easy! Here are a few ideas that I think will benefit you.
1. T-Shirts – What better platform for advertising then yourself. Slap on your t-shirt and walk about the town and ever so often look over your shoulder to see someone snapping a picture of the QR Code on your back.
2. Business Cards – Sure you can put your contact information on a business card, but why not take it a step further and put a picture of a QR Code on it. With that you could have it go to a special link on their site where they could get a discount rate on your service.
3. Magazine Advertisements – Sure you could include your website URL in the advertisement but people today are lazy and want their electronic devices to do the work for them.
4. Car Dealership Window Stickers – How can you maximize the ability to convert those after hour street walkers into potential leads to your dealership. Include these QR Codes on your vehicles which can let those street walkers save the vehicle and perhaps come back to your store and buy it.
As you can see this is just a short list of ideas but the more creative you are with a QR Code the more it can benefit you and your business.
